►PUBLIC SAFETY
Police and Fire & Rescue have more personnel than four years ago and better equipment, compensation, and benefits.  And yet, I’m committed to do much more to take care of our “front line.”

►TAXES & GOVERNMENT SPENDING
No new taxes.  No tax increases.  Budget surpluses.  Record-level “Rainy Day” funds.  Low utility rates.  Major debt reductions.  Voted against the Council giving themselves a pay raise.

►ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
City resources should facilitate the private sector so it can provide better employment opportunities, enhanced commercial centers, and a healthy business environment.  Provo’s certified tax rate continues to fall, making it easier on business to be in business.

►ZONING & PROPERTY RIGHTS
I have fought to maintain the delicate and fair balance between public order and private rights.  I have insisted on better enforcement of existing laws and providing the resources to do so while championing common-sense property rights.

►NEIGHBORHOODS
I have advocated empowering each unique neighborhood to establish a community standard and determine their own neighborhood’s destiny; I don’t believe in “one-size-fits-all” policies.  I have tried to focus city resources to eliminate crime, remove blight, and deal with irresponsible occupants in order to maintain family-friendly neighborhoods.

►PUBLIC SERVICES
Advocated implementation of performance-based budgeting and merit-based rewards to ensure government services are high quality, dependable, and accessible.

►LAND USE & DEVELOPMENT
I consistently vote for conscientious development.  Advocating careful long-range planning will ensure smart growth—i.e. affordable housing, open space, public services.

►RECREATION & CULTURAL ARTS
I have fully supported funding of multiple new parks and extensive park enhancements, and I am a proud supporter of the new Arts Center.  I championed park impact fees, providing millions of new dollars for parks and recreation.

►TRAFFIC & TRANSPORTATION
The public overwhelmingly supported the Road Bond, and construction is well under way.  Solid plans are in place for enhanced road improvements, public transportation, and I-15 Freeway reconstruction.
